This is a silver proof set dated 1964. One each of the following coins are included: Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Silver Dime, Washington Silver Quarter, and Kennedy Silver Half Dollar (first year of issue). The coins have a special mirror-like "proof" finish and were made specifically for coin collectors. Coins are mint-sealed inside their original cellophane packaging. The original "Treasury Department" manila envelope and cardboard inserts are also included.

1964 was the last year the mint issued 90% silver coins which were replaced in 1965 with a copper-nickel clad composition (dime and quarter) and 40% silver composition (half dollar). These early 60's proof sets are vastly undervalued today and make fantastic (and affordable) gifts for anyone born in 1964!
